Pineapple Ginger Detox Smoothie - Bright, Refreshing, and Easy

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple chunks (fresh works too, but frozen gives a thicker texture)
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced (about 1 to 2 teaspoons grated)
  • 1 small ripe banana (or 1/2 banana for less sweetness)
  • 1 to 2 cups baby spinach or kale (spinach is milder)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime juice (optional but brightens the flavor)
  • 1 cup coconut water (or cold water, or unsweetened almond milk)
  • 4 to 6 ice cubes (skip if using all frozen fruit)
  • Optional boosts: 1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flax, a few mint leaves, or a pinch of turmeric

Method

  1. Prep the ginger: Peel the ginger with a spoon edge and slice it thinly. Thin slices blend more easily and keep the texture smooth.
  2. Add liquids first: Pour coconut water into the blender. This helps the blades catch the ingredients and prevents clumping.
  3. Layer the soft stuff: Add banana, ginger, and lemon or lime juice. Then add the greens on top.
  4. Top with frozen ingredients: Add the pineapple and ice last so they stay close to the blades.
  5. Blend until silky: Start on low, then move to high for 30 to 45 seconds. If it’s too thick, add a splash more liquid. If too thin, add a few more pineapple chunks or ice.
  6. Taste and adjust: Want more zing? Add another slice of ginger or a touch more citrus. Need sweetness? A drizzle of honey or a couple extra pineapple chunks will do it.
  7. Serve immediately: Pour into a chilled glass. If you like a little texture, sprinkle chia seeds or add a mint leaf on top.
