Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Smoothie - Bright, Zesty, and Refreshing

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 small green apple (Granny Smith works well; core and chop)
  • 1/2 cup cucumber (peeled if waxed, chopped)
  • 1/2 frozen banana (for creaminess and natural sweetness)
  • 1 packed cup spinach (or baby kale)
  • 1 tablespoon raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with the “mother”)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (about half a small lemon)
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (peeled and grated; adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • 1 cup cold water or unsweetened coconut water
  • Ice (a handful, optional, for extra chill and body)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional, enhances flavor)

Method

  1. Prep the produce. Core and chop the apple, chop the cucumber, and peel the ginger. If you have a high-powered blender, you can leave the apple peel on for extra fiber.
  2. Layer the blender. Add water (or coconut water) first, then spinach, cucumber, apple, banana, ginger, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar. This order helps everything blend smoothly.
  3. Blend until silky. Start low, then increase to high for 30–45 seconds. Add ice and blend again if you want it frosty and thicker.
  4. Taste and adjust. If it’s too tart, add a touch of honey or more banana. If it’s too thick, splash in more liquid. For more zing, bump the ginger or lemon.
  5. Serve immediately. Pour into a chilled glass. A sprinkle of chia seeds or a slice of apple on top is a nice finishing touch.
